We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It
With 25 million children in the United States unable to read proficiently, the literacy crisis affects every community across the country. Reading with Sola aims to eradicate illiteracy within underrepresented groups via the promotion of literacy and the supplying of educational resources while addressing systemic racism and social justice through the power of books and reading.
Literacy Kits
Early learning resources are critical to ensuring children are ready for kindergarten and reading at grade-level by third grade.
Starting in the Austin Metropolitan Area, Reading with Sola will be creating and distributing literacy kits containing a new, age-appropriate book, school supplies and information to empower underrepresented families around school readiness and literacy.
Story Time Book Drop
Reading with Sola works to get books directly into the hands of underrepresented children and schools.
Moreover, the organization provides story time, which is one of the most powerful learning experiences for children because they naturally make sense of the world through story and play.
Story time promotes language and literacy skills, but also strengthens cognitive and social-emotional skills as well.
